Emma Grace's Caterplumer is an honourable mention in our 2013 Foodimal Contest!

Emma Grace, age 5, from Prince Edward Island, says the friendly caterplumer lives among pink flowers in the fruity rainbow forest.  It eats watermelon and hamburgers!  It moves around in a wave-like motion - just like other caterpillars.

How to make a Caterplumer:

You will need:

  • 7 small plums in a variety of colours
  • 1 large plum
  • 2 orange slices
  • 2 strawberries
  • Twisty straw
  • Toothpicks

  1. Remove the pits from the plums to create a round hole in the centre of each.
  2. Slide each small plum onto the twisty straw to create the caterplumer body.
  3. Create a hat for the caterplumer by fastening the strawberry to the orange slice.
  4. Use toothpicks to attach two plum pits for eyes, the orange slice for the mouth and strawberry for the nose.
