The Camo Dragon

camo dragon made out of food

Matthew's Camo Dragon is a first place winner in our 2013 Foodimal Contest!

Matthew, age 9, from Milton, says that the friendly camo dragon lives in the dessert and loves to eat little insects.  Sometimes it walks on its back legs and sometimes on all fours.

How to make a camo dragon

You will need:

  • 1 dragonfruit
  • 1 leaf of kale
  • 2 baby cucumbers
  • 6 cherry tomatoes
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 chayote squash
  • Toothpicks

  1. Cut up 1 lemon into 2 wedges. Cut 4 cherry tomatoes and 2 baby cucumbers in half.
  2. Use toothpicks to connect the cucumber legs, the kale leaf for the tail and the chayote head to the dragonfruit, which acts as the body.
  3. Use the 2 lemon wedges as horns and the cherry tomatoes as claws. Fasten with toothpicks.
  4. Attach two whole baby tomatoes for eyes.
