The Peachpire Bat

Serena's Peachpire Bat is a first place winner in our 2013 Foodimal Contest!

Seven year old Serena from Mission, British Columbia, says you don't need to be afraid of her vampire bat! Instead of fur, they have fuzzy bodies and orange moustaches. Like all vampire bats, they have small ears and short tails; so small and short you can't even see them!  Peachpire bats like to live in different placs, from deserts to forest to house roofs. They will live anywhere in the world except Antarctica! They fly around with their romaine lettuce wings and land anywhere (even updide down!) with their small baby carrot legs. Peachpire bats mainly drink fruit smoothies (except the pineapple flavour).

How to make a Peachpire Bat

You will need:

  • 1 peach
  • 2 leaves of Romaine lettuce
  • 3 baby carrots
  • 1 blueberry
  • 2 toothpicks

  1. Wash the peach, lettuce, carrots and blueberries.
  2. Cut the peach in half and remove the pit. Lie the half flat side down on a plate.
  3. Take the lettuce leaves and form into wings on each side of the peach.
  4. Slice one blueberry in half and use each half to make eyes. Fasten with tootpicks.
  5. Place two baby carrots under the peach as legs.
  6. Slice another carrot in half lengthwise. Take one half and cut into three pieces for the mouth. Take the other half and cut into two pieces for eyebrows.
