The Poivrouille

Hillary's Poivrouille is a first place winner in our 2013 Foodimal Contest!

Hillary, age 8, from Woodbridge, created the Poivrouille because her dad loves green peppers! Poivre in French means green pepper and grenouille means frog. Together they make a Poivrouille! The Poivrouille lives in humid environments like rain forests. It eats insects, earthworms and spiders.  He is also the reigning Olympic champion in high jump. The Poivrouille is friendly, nice and funny.  But he can be scary because he jumps so high. He always says how happy he is to have a green pepper body because it gives him energy!

How to make a Poivrouille:

You will need:

  • 1 green pepper
  • 2 black eyed peas
  • Toothpicks

Instructions:

  1. Cut your green pepper in half.  One half will make the body.
  2. With the other half, cut large strips of pepper for the back legs and smaller pieces for the front legs.  Fasten with toothpics.
  3. Place two dried black eyed peas for eyes with a couple dabs of glue.
