Fresh from the Farm: Healthy fundraising for Ontario schools

Welcome to Fresh from the Farm!

Fresh from the Farm is a fundraising program that brings fresh and local Ontario vegetables and fruit to participating elementary and secondary schools.

A new take on fundraising

Since 2013, 152 Ontario schools have successfully piloted Fresh from the Farm. In total, they collectively distributed over 130,000 kilograms of fresh, Ontario fruit and vegetables to Ontario families, and raised more than $112,000 for school initiatives. As well, an additional $150,000 was returned to Ontario farmers.

Participating schools

Visit the Fresh from the Farm website for the list of school boards eligible to participate in the 2016 fundraising campaign.

Eligible schools can ENROL from May 2nd to October 7th, 2016.

School boards were chosen to participate in the Fresh from the Farm pilot project based on the capacity already in place through the delivery of complementary programming (e.g., Student Nutrition Program, Northern Fruit and Vegetable Program).

By gradually expanding our program we are learning how to best deliver the program and to meet the needs of the schools participating.

Note that only select schools in some boards are eligible due to geographical limitations. Our plan is to have the program available to all schools in the province by 2017.

Everybody wins!
