Soy Butter and Banana Roll

2011 Kids Recipe Challenge winning recipe – 1st place!

Category: School day lunch, grades 4-6

Hannah, from Beamsville, loves this twist on the traditional peanut butter and banana sandwich.  Serve it up with a glass of milk for a perfect bite.

If your kids can’t have peanut butter because of allergies, try soy butter. It’s available in most grocery stores.  The kids will love being able to enjoy their favourite flavour combination once again. 

Preparation Time: 5 minutes

Makes: 1 serving

Ingredients

Small whole wheat tortilla

Soy butter

2 Tbsp (25 mL)

Banana

Directions

  1. Wash hands with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds. Clean all countertops and equipment used for food preparation.     

  2. Gently rinse banana under cool running water, then peel and set aside.  

  3. Spread tortilla evenly with soy butter. Place peeled banana on one side and roll up. 

  4. Cut in pieces if desired.
